Our Friday Night Sessions

What happens at our sessions?

We now run 2 Friday night sessions with different aims. This is mostly to better suit the diversity of needs amongst our members and help make the club enjoyable for everyone. Our sessions are below:

Session 1: relaxed session: 6:00pm - 7.30pm. Ran by Jess and other volunteers During this session, there will be crafts and some group card games available, but there will not be a set structure or activity. This session is ideal for those who want to come and chat with others in a relaxed environment, or bring their own activity.

We also  do seasonal activities like Easter baking, Pumpkin Carving, Christmas parties (Daventry Social club style) and any other things the members like!

Session 2: board game session: 7.30 - 9, ran by Jordan. During this session, the group will be playing a focused board game that typically takes most of the session, such as sheriff of Nottingham, ticket to ride, mysterium etc. This session is suited to those who want to focus and concentrate on a board game and may involve some strategy. You will also need to arrive promptly for this session.

Each session will cost £2. Members are welcome at either (or both) sessions and can pick and choose which one they come to each week, there is no obligation to one specific group.

It may be that volunteers feel a member may be better suited one of the sessions and this will be discussed with the member individually.

We are a community group so our sessions are always evolving depending on what members want to do.

How do we cater for the Neurodiverse?

  • Maximum of 15 people in each session
  • Small groups
  • Focused, structured activities
  • Quieter sessions
  • Considerate, understanding environment
  • Parents/siblings welcome to support first few sessions
  • Pre-meeting with the volunteers so members can meet volunteers and explore the building before the sessions start
  • Fidget toys
  • Adapted games and equipment
